Join us at 8pm for a special evening of artists performing the songs of the legendary alternative rock group from Athens, Georgia which led the underground American music movement with a constant stream of hit records from the early eighties through today. 100% of net proceeds to benefit musical education programs for underprivileged youth.

The “Downtown Seder” transcends religion and highlights the cultural connection to the historic Jewish liberation from slavery and the universal struggle for freedom. 400 people will eat together at elegant tables while watching more than 20 different presenters expound on sections of the ancient text. This will be the 7th annual event, which always sells out and is certain to be an unprecedented array of diverse talent that can only be assembled in New York City.

The second tribute to benefit the Music for Youth Foundation, follows the incredible success of the Joni Mitchell Tribute at Carnegie Hall. The event sold out and raised over $100,000 for Music for Youth. Lucky ticket holders watched 22 fantastic performances from over 30 great artists.

The third annual festival will be adding a 2-day conference in 2006. Opening night will be John Zorn’s Massada, 3 different versions, at the 92nd Street Y. The Jewish Music Awards and 50 concerts in 15 venues all culminates in one big free outdoor event on Sept. 17 in Riverside Park.

The 6th annual Seder was a great success with 30 artists, political figures, comedians, musicians all offering their interpretations of parts of the Passover Story. Gart Rosenblatt the publisher of Jewish Week who was one of the 425 people in the audience wrote the following review, which best captured the spirit and feeling of the evening.

The first tribute benefit of the Music for Youth Foundation, honoring Joni Mitchell at Carnegie Hall, was a huge success. The artist list was impressive and over $130,000 was raised for the Music for Youth Foundation.
