I am a strong believer in the concept of Tikkum Olam, Hebrew for “repair the world”. And the world really needs it. Between Trump, Climate Change, diseases, local school needs, music programs, medical research, wildlife protection, and Donald Trump (I guess I said him twice) there are many causes which I feel very strongly about and try and support. I sit on the boards of the Newport Festival Foundation, Lab/Shul, American Symphony Orchestra, among others. City Winery gives up our space, wine, and many experiential donations whenever possible. My annual Carnegie Hall tribute series focuses on music education programs for underserved Youth.
Below are links to most of the organizations which that tribute series gives funding. So far, we have generated over $1.5m for those organizations since 2004. The other project both I and City Winery have made a real commitment is the rebuilding of Puerto Rico and the of late, the Solar Responders project.
In 2018, the City Winery team went to Puerto Rico to help rebuild communities, provide a huge donation and built a "Stage of Joy."
Here is the story.
